Inaccurate data

If you make a subject access request and find that a person or organisation is holding inaccurate data about you, you should first write to them to try to get them to amend their records. If that fails, you can either:

  1. seek redress in the court, which can amend the data, or
  2. ask the Information Commissioner to assess your case.  The Commissioner will decide whether the processing of your data has been carried out in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
