Compensation

You are entitled to claim compensation through the courts if you have suffered damage and, in certain cases, distress, as a result of a data controller not meeting any requirements of the Data Protection Act. You will have to take the matter to court yourself. The Information Commissioner does not have any powers to award compensation.
